Projects on Offer in Alumina and Aluminium Industry
This project envisages setting up of facility to produce alumina and aluminium India is the largest producer of bauxite, the main raw material for the production of alumina, in south Asia. During the period 1980 to 1992, the South Asia region increased its aluminium production by 55 percent the highest growth rate in the world. India has about 12 per cent of the world reserves of bauxite producing and the ninth largest alumina producing country in the world. India is also a major exporter of alumina and aluminium sheets. The eastern coast of India has the largest proven reserves of high quality bauxite. Bihar accounts for almost 17 per cent of the country's total production of bauxite. Bauxite constitutes 35 percent of the cost of production of alumina. The location of alumina plants near bauxite reserves is of vital importance, since almost 70 percent of the landed cost of bauxite is accounted for by the transportation cost component.
Projects on Offer in Automobile Components Industry
The proposed project is for the manufacture of parabolic springs for automobiles. It can be set up in the proposed auto component park near Jamshedpur. The unit will have an annual installed capacity of 20,000 tonnes of parabolic springs.
Springs are indispensable and integral parts of automobiles. Demand for springs exists in the automobile manufacturing segment and in the replacement market as well. With the automobile industry growing at an annual rate of 30 per cent and the replacement market growing at an annual rate of 30 per cent and the replacement market growing at the rate of 10 per cent per annum, the demand for springs will definitely be increasing in the coming years.
Earlier, most automobiles were fitted with conventional leaf springs. It is only recently that most of light and heavy duty automobile manufacturers the world over have switched from conventional leaf springs to parabolic and coil springs because of their higher load carrying capacity.
Projects on Offer in Chemical Industry: Acetic Acid and Vinyl Acetate Monomer
The Project envisages the setting up of an alcohol based chemicals plant to produce acetic acid and vinyl acetate monomer (VAM). Alcohol and alcohol based units constitute an important segment of the Indian Chemical Industry which plays a vital role in the country's economy. Alcohol and alcohol based units account for 11-12 percent of the total capital employed in the manufacturing sector and employ 6 percent of the country's factory workforce. The chemical industry produces value added products worth Rs. 16-17 billion per year of which an estimated Rs. 3,5-4 billion is accounted for by alcohol based units.
