Investment and Industrial Policies-Madhya Pradesh
There is tremendous potential for taking Madhya Pradesh into the ranks of the industrially advanced States of the Country. The Industrial Policy and Action Plan, 1994 aims at accelerating & strengthening industrial development, attracting more capital investment, ensuring balanced regional development and providing additional employment opportunities to help improve the standard of living of the people. The Policy and Action Plan, 1994 lays special emphasis on responsive administration. It outlines measures to make administration a more result oriented responsive instrument for industrial development.
Information Technology Policy
Madhya Pradesh has some of the finest institutions in telecommunications, electronics and management, which not only have current and prospective utility, but also have a cadre of alumni many of whom are Non Resident entrepreneurs and IT professionals.A State Task Force on Information Technology was constituted by the State Govt. under Prof. Yash Pal. In addition to giving a number of recommendations, about setting up infrastructure, encouraging industry and private initiative; the Task Force has also indicated measures to promote IT in Government and Social sectors as well as measures for human resource development to utilize employment opportunities in the IT sector within and out side the state. The recommendations of the Task Force have been approved by the Govt. of Madhya Pradesh, as its State policy on Information Technology.
Captive Power Policy - 2001
The new Captive Power Policy of the State Government, is highly detrimental to efficient utilization of power generating capacity created at a considerable cost, conservation of electricity through demand side management and reduction of losses in utilization of electricity. Captive power plant means power plant including generating sets if any installed by consumer of Madhya Pradesh Electricity Board (MPEB) for his own use.
Environment Policy
The State Environment Policy seeks to lay down guidelines that will facilitate development while ensuring environmental conservation, yet without hampering the present and future development imperatives. Provision for environmental protection has been laid down in the Directive Principles of State Policy in the Constitution of India by assigning the duties for the State and all citizens through Article 48A and Article 51A (g) which state that the 'State shall endeavor to protect and improve the environment and to safeguard the forests and wildlife in the country 'and 'to protect and improve the natural environment including forests, lakes and rivers and wildlife, and to have compassion for the living creatures'.
Tourism Policy
With the view to speed-up development of Tourism in Madhya Pradesh, the State Government announced a New Tourism Policy in January 1995. The new tourism policy envisages creation of an environment conducive to attracting increased private investment in the tourism sector, and a more meaningful role for the Government. State Govt. is responsible for dissemination of information, organisation of festivals and inter-departmental co-ordination to create conditions for attracting private sector investment for the tourism sector.
Eco & Adventure Tourism Policy - 2001
The State Government announced a Eco & Adventure Tourism Policy in 2001 to promote the private sector participation. The locations are identified for launching Eco and Adventure Tourism activities initially on a trial basis as well as entrepreneur is free to come
