Open Source Meets Business
Date: January 23-26, 2007.
Venue: Karl-Schoenleben-Strasse, 90471 Nuernberg, Germany
The congress for CIOs, CTOs, and IT decision makers
After the major success of the first Open Source Meets Business in
January 2006, the second run of the Congress is just a few months away
– with an expanded program and even more ways to get information, get
to know people, and share knowledge. In addition to 65 best practice
presentations by user companies, 55 presentations will be held for the
first time on the future of Open Source projects and technologies, not
to mention workshops, poster sessions, and top keynote addresses to
provide a comprehensive overview of Open Source in the business sector.
Do you deal with the use of Open Source components in your company? Do
you have to determine the benefits that Open Source software could have
for your company ? Are economic efficiency, cost effects, investment
security, and technical feasibility the main criteria for such
decisions?
Our congress will provide answers to your questions.
- Visionary. Top class keynote speakers – representatives of
user companies and the IT industry – will be sharing their visions of
the future of Open Source in the business sector.
- Argumentative. In the panel discussion, these visions will
have to prove their worth.
- Informative. Numerous best practice presentations from
companies in all industries and of all sizes, selected and compiled by
an independent program committee
consisting of a majority of Heise editors.
- Competent. Clearly defined criteria for the presentations
ensure high quality of information and clarity.
- Solution-oriented. In workshops moderated by our editors and
limited to 20 participants, you can discuss your personal issues and
work up potential solutions with the support of Open Source
experts.
- Communicative. Despite a tightly packed presentation and intensive workshops, you will have time to get to know people and exchange opinions – in other words, to network – in breaks and at two evening events. Open Source in business sector is the topic; learning from others, the means of getting there.
In 65 presentations, midsize companies all the way up to multinationals
will be sharing their experience in the use of Open Source software.
The focus will consistently be on the economic and business effects of
the solutions used. On the one hand, the presentations are categorized
by industry; on the other, by the technology used.
For the first time, 55 presentations will be dealing with the future of
Open Source projects on the first day of the congress. In accordance
with the specifications of the program committee, speakers will be
emphasizing the business benefits of their projects and their position
vis-à-vis competitors. They will describe development capacities
and outsourcing to independent developers as well as talk about their
roadmaps and visions of the future.
An independent program committee selected all of the presentations. In
addition to a clear presentation of the content, special emphasis is
placed on the exclusion of advertising in these presentations.
The attendance fee for all three days of the congress is 1,580 euros
excluding value-added tax. The two-day ticket costs 1,180 euros; a
single day, 680 euros.
